ALAN CAIGER-SMITH Aldermaston Studio Pottery Chalice

An unusual Aldermaston studio pottery chalice form pedestal bowl by Alan Caiger-Smith (1930-2020). It is hand thrown and decorated with a raised tubelined style pattern geometric leaf shapes..

The base has a matt white glaze with bowl in a gloss white with red lustre top rim.

Painted marks on the underside.
ACS monogram with a date code of a C with a Dot.
Probably c1969/70.

LANGLEY WARE Sapphire Blue Glazed Vase c1930

A fine looking stoneware pottery flowers vase decorated with a rich mottle blue glaze below a mottled brown glaze around the top rim.

Impressed and printed marks on the underside “Made in England”
This impressed mark was used by Lovatts Langley pottery in the early 1930s. When this colour was know as “sapphire” blue.
