Mephisopheles Beer Stein attr to S Reich & Co

An impressive glass beer stein with pewter lid.

The glass is press moulded and decorated with a bobbles around the face of the Devil, which is frosted. It is fitted with a pewter hinged lid with a fantastic Goats head finial.

These wares are attributed to the Czech maker, S Reich & Co.

Glass – 15.5cm high & 8.5cm diameter
with Lid – 22.5cm high

Unmarked

Condition –
Some surface wear.
Tiny chipping around the pewter mount on the handle – from the making.
Tiny clear glass on edge of face – see pictures.
Pewter tarnished with age to a grey colour.

ISLE of WIGHT Studio Glass Vase

A delightful little studio glass vase decorated with mottled pink and white colours with an all over golden sheen.

Made by Isle of Wight Studio Glass from the Summer Fruits range of patterns from the early 1990s. Designed by Timothy and Jonathon Harris. This version is most likely “Honeyberry” c1993.

MONART Glass Vase – Blue Crackle CLOISONNE Pattern

An unusual Scottish Art Glass vase decorated with a blue over white crackle pattern.

It’s from the Monart range of decorative glass made by the Ysart family of glass blowers for the Scottish firm, John Moncrieff Ltd in Perth. Part of a range of pattern known to collectors as “Cloisonne” and would to about 1930.

Shape “C” and size VI

Illustrated in the book “Ysart Glass” on page 103.

Powell WHITEFRIARS Glass – Wavy Ribbed Footed Bowl No7170 Sea Green

A lovely Powell Whites glass footed bowl with a wavy ribbed pattern and in a pale “Sea Green” colourway. These were designed by William Butler in the 1920s and made through the 1930s. Recorded as pattern number 7170.

Illustrated in “Whitefriars Glass The Art of James Powell & Sons” by Lesley Jackson. Page 115 Plate 84. Shown in the 1938 Sales Catalogue as being made in 5 sizes, this is the second largest.

ISLE of WIGHT Studio Glass Designed by Michael HARRIS c1975

A lovely hand made studio glass vase designed by Michael Harris at the Isle of Wight Glass.

It has a squat round shape, thought to be shape AB9 with a swirling “Tortoise Shell” colour with bubble inclusions.

Applied glass button on pontil with impressed flame mark.
