Riihimaen Lasi – Busy Lizzy Vase – stock #47718

This is a mid century modern design glass vase by Riihimaen Lasi, Riihimaki, Finland in the form of a standing woman. This known as the “Ahkareliisa” or Busy Lizzy vase and was deisgned by Helena Tynell in 1968 and recorded as shape number 1309.

It came in two sizes and this example is the smaller 21cm version ib a dark blue green within clear colour.

A good looking original Aseda Glasbruk, Sweden,vase designed by Bo Borgstrom and dating to the early part of the 1970s. This example has an elongated goblet form in a blue over green colour way.

Understood to be shape number B5/602 and is illustrated in the reference book “Scandianvian Glass; Fire & Sea”

Murano Glass – Alabastro Duck

Murano Glass – Alabastro Duck – stock #45618

An impressive large scale multi coloured Murano glass “alabastro” duck in a “lif off” into flight pose on a dome shaped base. Made in an opalescent glass graduating from a white base through a pale jade green , then blue and back to a white beak. This style of glass and the bird are associated with the Italian Glass maker, Archimede Seguso on Murano.

Although, no signature or labels, this bird was mostly likely made by Seguso and would date to the 1970’s.

Talitha Horn – Studio Glass

Talitha Horn – Studio Glass Vase – stock #45718

A gorgeous studio glass vase signed “Talitha 83” hand blown with a irregualr shape and evert top rim. It is decorated with an abstract irredescent pattern which my be stylised tree. Initially it reminded me of the work of London Glassblowers such as Sam Herman or Peter Layton.

Research confirms the this vase was created by the American glass artist Talitha Csmpbell Horn, who was active between c1975 and c1985. She was associated with The Laurie Thal Glass Studio, Jacksonhole, Wyoming. An area now renown for it’s glass artists.

A charming (if you like snakes) post war modern lamp work vase in the form of a snake. Patterned with candy stripe canes in blue ornage white yellow and green within clear glass. Very finely blown and very light in weight.

Not makers marks or labels. These are often attributed to Bimini, Lauscha or Istvan Komaromy.Sold unattributed.

Beranek Skrdlovice Glass – Olive Green Vase

Beranek Skrdlovice Glass – Petr Hora – stock #43018

An impressive mid century mordern design art glass vase made by the Czech Republic firm, Skrdlovice / Beranek and dating to the 1990s. This pattern was designed by Petr Hora (b1949) in 1983 with the range cylindrical and spherical vases and low bowl. Other colours include, green and amber with constrasting patterns.

It has an inner olive green core, cased in a thick layer of pale green glass. It has an internal white, green, yellow and black web decoration.
