Bourne Denby BYNGO Dog 17cm Size 3

A charming novelty stoneware figure of a seated French Bulldog called Byngo.
Made by Bourne Denby in the 1930s as part of their Danesby Ware range of art pottery.
This version is 17cm (size 3) high and decorated in a shiney brown glaze with hand painted eyes, mouth and collar. It is the second largest made.
Printed makers marks on the underside.

A finely made Scandinavian studio pottery vase by Birthe Vedel Howard (b1932)
Hand thrown and decorated with glossy glazes. A delicate running green at the top and a creamy coloured lower parts. Incised makers mark on the underside.
More substantial than the size suggests – quite heavily potted.

These are two hand made studio pottery bowls by Peter Arnold (d2013) at the Alderney Pottery which he had established in the early 1960s c1961/2.
They were hand thrown with a glazed interior and the outside is unusally decorated with incised beasts. One may be a boar and the other a flying fish. Thre is some thing prehistoric about them.
