An early 20th century German Westerwald type stoneware ewer jug with pewter hinged lid.
Decorated with a jugendstil art nouveau design in blue on bluegrey.
Impressed on the underside with the shape numbers 1353 together with a small triangle.
Made by Simon Peter Gerz.
The designers associated with this maker, include Peter Behrens (1868-1940) and Bruno Mauder.

21.5cm high
19cm wide
including handle and lid.
Marks –
Impressed on the underside.
Condition –
NO chips, cracks or restorations.
Some indents, bends and scrapes to the pewter.
Vintage item with some but minimal evidence of use.
