A fine looking German porcelain vase by AK Kaiser (Alboth & Kaiser) Porcelain of Bavaria Germany. It has a modern cylinder shape with and is decorated with a modernist textured design of groups of pimples amongst a sinuous ribbon pattern. Reminds me of sea urchins and seaweed. Printed factory marks on the underside. Pattern or Shape number 366/16 on the underside.

It has modernist form shaped jug decorated with a central band of art deco meets modernist figures including nudes, men and women plus a child with a bird and a horse. Designed by Kurt Wendler (1893-1980). Printed factory marks on the underside. Moulded shape number 861.

METTLACH – Stoneware Beer STEIN – stock #38917

An outstanding original German stoneware beer stein tandard with a pewter lid made by Mettlach Germany. It is decorated with an incised or engraved design of a family following a servant who is carrying a tray with a Hog Roast on it. Many of the figures are holding stains and tankards.

Enscribed – Bratenduft und Wurzig Bier Locket Alt und Iungherfur. Impressed 1/2L for half litre size. Impressed marks on the underside.

An outstanding large folk art pottery figurine of a flower Queen by the Portugese artist Rosa Ramalho. It is naively modelled and glazzed in a rich mustard yellow colour. Signed RR on the foot rim. There are some areas of glaze flaking which have been over-painted – most likely in period.

Rosa Ramalho (1888–1977) was the working name of the noted Portuguese ceramic artist Rosa Barbosa Lopes. Although she learnt pottery whilst still young, it wasn’t until after her husband’s death when she was aged 68, that she began to create the figures that would establish her fame. Rosa was enroled as a Dame in the Order of Saint James of the Sword and in 1968 awarded the medal “As Artes ao Serviço da Nação” (Arts in Service to the Nation). SEE online video CLICK HERE

An outstanding folk art pottery figurine of a flower seller by the Portugese artist Rosa Ramalho. It is naively modelled and glazzed in a rich mustard yellow colour. Signed RR on the foot rim. There are some areas of glaze flaking which have been over-painted – most likely in period.
