A Hornsea Pottery vase decorated with a mid century modern design of a girl. It is titled “Aphrodite” and was designed by John Clappison (1937-2013) in 1961.

It was made in three sizes. This is the 18cm high version which was the largest version. This was made in the c1977-1978.

A super mid century modern satin black glazed pottery figurine of a kneeling African native girl designed by Marion Campbell for the Hornsea Pottery and dating to the mid 1950’s.

Dorothy Marion Campbell (1911-2005) was an artist and potter designer potter based in Yorkshire. She createdmany designs for Hornsea Pottery, including the African natives figures and other animals such as dogs, penguin, horses, giraffes and cats. Examples of her work can be found in the Ceramics Galleries of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
