Friedrich Hudler – Box

Friedrich Hudler – Box – stock #13719

An art deco design crackle glazed box and cover decorated with a hand painted design of deer within a landscape. Signed on the underside with a “FH” monogram for the German artist Frederich Hudler (1889-1982).

Hudler was a German graphic artist, sculptor and ceramist. He established his pottery with his wife, Marie Margarethe (née Wilke b1893), in Diessen am Ammersee in 1921 after being a prisoner during WW1. He was awarded a Gold Medal at the 1937 Paris World Fair.

Wilkinson’s Oriflamme

Wilkinson’s Oriflamme Ginger Jar – stock #11319

A super original British Art Pottery ginger jar and cover by Wilkinson’s from the Oriflamme range. This example feature with cloud like glazes in mauve, purple, red and yellow tones. The iside of the cover is glazed yellow with a lustre sheen. It is signed “B” on the underside for John Butler, their Art Director at this time.

It is unusual to still vase the cover intact.

Crown Ducal – C Rhead Charger

Crown Ducal – Charlotte Rhead Charger – stock #38518

A late 1930s art deco design wall plate designed by Charlotte Rhead and made by Crown Ducal. It is decorated a tubeline pattern called “Fruit Border” with a band of lustre glaze fruit in yellow, mauve and orange colours on the “bronze” mottled background colour. Gilt highlights. Printed makers mark on the underside that were in use from c1936 until c1942.

Bursley Ware – Charlotte Rhead – Lampbase – stock #37718

A super looking original Bursley Ware lampbase decorated with an art deco inspired design by Charlotte Rhead. This pattern is TL72 and dates to the mid part of the 1950’s. It has a tubelined multi coloured floral pattern with tulips and other stylised flowers and leaves and an overall lustre effect.

Similar pattern illustrated in “Collecting Rhead Pottery” by Bernard Bumpus in Plate 95 on Page 65.
