Budgeree Glass – Vase 1985 – stock #51118

A fine looking vintage studio glass vase from the Australian Glass Studio “Budgeree Glass”. It has an ovoid shape with flared top and decorated with a marbled “oil on water” effect in burnt orange and white colours within clear.

Budgeree Glass was established by glass artist Nick Mount in Budgeree, Victoria in Australia and was moved to Adelaide in 1984. This example is signed “Budgeree” and dated ’85 for 1985. Examples of his work can be found many international collections, including;

Riihimaen Lasi – Busy Lizzy Vase – stock #47718

This is a mid century modern design glass vase by Riihimaen Lasi, Riihimaki, Finland in the form of a standing woman. This known as the “Ahkareliisa” or Busy Lizzy vase and was deisgned by Helena Tynell in 1968 and recorded as shape number 1309.

It came in two sizes and this example is the smaller 21cm version ib a dark blue green within clear colour.

Murano Glass – Alabastro Duck

Murano Glass – Alabastro Duck – stock #45618

An impressive large scale multi coloured Murano glass “alabastro” duck in a “lif off” into flight pose on a dome shaped base. Made in an opalescent glass graduating from a white base through a pale jade green , then blue and back to a white beak. This style of glass and the bird are associated with the Italian Glass maker, Archimede Seguso on Murano.

Although, no signature or labels, this bird was mostly likely made by Seguso and would date to the 1970’s.

A lovely Poole Pottery vase decorated with a modernist “contemporary” pattern in black and white on a grey chestnut coloured back ground. The “Freeform” shaped was designed by Alfred Read and Guy Sydenham and numbered 692.

This pattern is “PR.P”, designed by Alfred Read and dates to the mid 1950’s.

Talitha Horn – Studio Glass

Talitha Horn – Studio Glass Vase – stock #45718

A gorgeous studio glass vase signed “Talitha 83” hand blown with a irregualr shape and evert top rim. It is decorated with an abstract irredescent pattern which my be stylised tree. Initially it reminded me of the work of London Glassblowers such as Sam Herman or Peter Layton.

Research confirms the this vase was created by the American glass artist Talitha Csmpbell Horn, who was active between c1975 and c1985. She was associated with The Laurie Thal Glass Studio, Jacksonhole, Wyoming. An area now renown for it’s glass artists.
