A finely pottery studio pottery jug and cover with a barrel shape, decorated with a stylised Foxglove floral & foliate pattern on the front. Marked with an impressed LD monogram seal which I understand to be the personal seal of David Leach (1911-2005) whilst working at the Lowerdown Pottery.

A mid century modern design art glass bowl in the form of a stylsed fish. Made by Kosta Glass and designed by the Swedish artist / designer; Vicke Lindstrand (1904-1983). It has has a shallow fish shaped form with a crimped mouth. Decorated internally with a swirling controlled bubble pattern.

Chribska Mica Diamond Vase by Josef Hospodka – stock #64117

A gorgeous mid century modern Bohemian Czech art glass vase designed by Josef Hospodka in the mid 1960’s. It has an ovoid elongated barrel shape, a mainly blue upper section with a diamond grid design with mica inclusion. The lower section is a burnt caramel colour.

Josef Hospodka (Czech, 1923-1989)  was a designer working at the Chribska Glassworks, Novy Bor, Czechoslovakia and later at Prachen Glassworks.

A large mid century modern design art glass vase designed by Frank Thrower for Dartington glass. This vase has a green colourway with a square shape and decorated with a stylised face on the front and daisy flowers on the side and the back is un-decorated. This designed is number FT16 and known as the Flower People Square Vase. It is quite rare and now difficult to find.

Rosenthal “Pollo” Vase by Tapio Wirkkala – stock #58817

A mid century modern design Rosenthal Studio Linie porcelain vase from the “Pollo” range design by Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985). The shape is a very stylised “chicken” and this example is the 8.5cm high version in a white bisque colour way.

Printed marks on the underside for “Rosenthal Studio Linie Germany” with a line under the M and a + in front of the G. Most likely dating to the late 1970’s.

A super original mid century modern design cut glass vase by Whitefriars Glass and dating to the early part of the 1960s.

It has a an ovoid shape with thick walls and angular cut and polisged top rim. The front is decorated with a cut design of a spikey fish swimming amongst weed. Illustrated in the 1960 and 1961 Whitefriars Glass sales catalogue.

Michael Harris – Shamrock Glass Vase

Michael Harris – Shamrock Glass Vase – stock #44017

This is a Michaek Harris designed “Shamrock” pattern art glass vase in mottled shades of blue and with a squat globular shape. Marked on the underside with an impressed “flame” mark on the pontil.

This pattern is called as “Shamrock” and was designed by Michael Harris in c1978 and was produced at the Isle of Wight Glass Studio in 1978 & 1979 before being produced exclusively at Kerry Glass in Ireland. Kerry Glass was founded in 1978 in Killarney, County Kerry by Michael Harris and 2 friends Ross and Elizabeth Lewis. Harris provided the designs, equipment and expertise. The early pieces were marked with the same ‘flame’ pontil mark as used at Isle if Wight Glass.
