VEB Kunst-Glas Wasungen – Cut Glass Vases – stock #27018

A collection of 6 coloured cut glass vase by VEB Kunst Glas Wasungen of Germany. Each has a clear glass body with “flashed” coloured glass overlay through which the design have been cut. They date to the early part of the 1950s.

VEB Kunst-Glas Wasungen was the “Nationalised” name for the longest established; Sophienhütte, based in Ilmenau, Thuringia, Germany. It was established c1852 and continued until 1991.

This group will be exhibited at the Southwold antiques Fair, 24th-26th August.

A super quality mid century modern designart glass vase designed Heinrich Loffelhardt for the German firm Schott Zwiesel dating from the mid 1970’s. This example is from the “Florida” range of art wares and a has swirling air inclusions within a blue glass colourway. Also seen in brown and green versions.

WMF Ikora Glass – Large Vase

WMF Ikora Glass – Large Vase – stock #25018

An impressive art deco design WMF Ikora Kristal vase decorated with a marble multi toned red pattern with randon bubble inclusions. This vase is mostly likely shape number 8111 and is illustrated in the 1951 sales catalogue.

Thw WMF Ikora Kristal range was developed in the mid 1920 by Karl Weidmann and continued to be produced until the early 1950’s. This example most likely has a post war date of production but could easily be from the 1930’s.
