He was born in Manchester in 1895 and
studied at Manchester School of Art, Royal College of Art and Royal Academy
Schools gaining British Institute Scholarship in 1921 and the Landseer
Scholarship in 1922. Lived in London in 1921 and 1933 and Michigan USA in 1930.

Some figural work designed by him was
produced at Pilkington's, these being
bookends and two limited edition figure. The Boy & Ship and Boy and Goat.
He also designed a pair of bookends for them of a Boy on a Donkey. These were
