Clements (b1925 -)
Silversmith and designer. He studied
at the Birmingham School of Art before graduating from the Royal College of Art
in 1953. He designed for Mappin and Webb and commissions for ceremonial silver.
Later was the head of Industrial Design at the Birmingham School of Art.
Sir Henry Cole
(1808 – 82)
Designer and reformer
who was involved organizing the 1851 Great Exhibition. He established the Felix
Summerly Art manufacturers with the aim of producing aesthetically pleasing mass
made items.

Walter Crane
(1845 - 1915)
Born in Liverpool, son of a painter he was apprenticed to
the wood engraver William Linton and studied at the Heatherley's art School. He
specialised in graphic art and book illustration and designed
posters, textile, glass and ceramics. The pottery designs include for Minton,
Wedgwood, Pilkington and Maw and Co.
1893-96 director of Design at Manchester Municipal School
of Art
1896 Art Director at Reading University College.
1898-99 head of the training School, South Kensington Science and Art
Department.
He was a founder member and first president of both the Art
Workers' Guild and the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society. He regularly
exhibited at the Royal Academy.
