Frederick Carder (1864 – 1963)       

Glass designer at Stevens & Williams, noted for his Alabaster range of opaque glass. Later Art Director at Steuben Glass in USA, where produced very similar ranges

Century Guild

A group of architects, designers and craftsmen working from c1883 until 1892.  Including A H Mackmurdo and H P Horne.

Eric Clements (b1925 -)

Silversmith and designer. He studied at the Birmingham School of Art before graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1953. He designed for Mappin and Webb and commissions for ceremonial silver. Later was the head of Industrial Design at the Birmingham School of Art.

Sir Henry Cole (1808 – 82)

Designer and reformer who was involved organizing the 1851 Great Exhibition. He established the Felix Summerly Art manufacturers with the aim of producing aesthetically pleasing mass made items.

Architect who designed for Webb Corbett Ltd

Collinson & Lock est1870

Cabinet makers who specialized in the aesthetic style. They absorbed in Gillow in 1897

Coloerton Pottery c1898/9

established in Ashby de la Zouch by Carlo Manzoni after the closure of Granville Pottery and before his move to
Della Robbia.

Connell and Co  

A firm of silversmith under the direction of William and George Lawrence Connell. Produced silver and pewter in      the Art Nouveau style.


John Paul Cooper
(1869 - 1933)

Silversmith and jeweller in a late arts and crafts style. Especially noted for his use of shagreen.

J R Cooper

He was a member of the Northern Art Workers' Guild who also designed tiles for Pilkington.

James Couper & Son (c1860 - 1905)

glass manufacturers, whose art ware was Clutha Glass. Which was designed by Dr Chr Dresser and George Walton.

Frederick Courthope (c1885 - 1915)

silversmith who made item designed by John Dando Sedding (1838-91)

Walter Crane (1845 - 1915)

Born in Liverpool, son of a painter he was apprenticed to the wood engraver William Linton and studied at the Heatherley's art School. He specialised in graphic art and book illustration and designed posters, textile, glass and ceramics. The pottery designs include for Minton, Wedgwood, Pilkington and Maw and Co.

1893-96 director of Design at Manchester Municipal School of Art
1896 Art Director at Reading University College.
1898-99 head of the training School, South Kensington Science and Art Department.

He was a founder member and first president of both the Art Workers' Guild and the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society. He regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy.

He was a designer, silversmith and jeweller. He designed for Goldsmiths and Silversmtihs Co and Liberty &Co.
