Castle Hedingham est 1837

Established in 1837 by Edward Bingham senior in Castle Hedingham, Essex producing red wares. It appears the his son Edward junior experimented with ornamental wares. Edward senior died in 1872 with Edward junior continuing to experiment. By 1886 the  third generation had joined the firm with E W Bingham producing a range of historical based items with a applied decoration.

By 1899 E W had taken over from his father buy had sold to Devon firm of Hexter Humpherson by 1901. The pottery was renamed the Essex Art Pottery Co and after Royal patronage from Queen Alexandra changed again to the Royal Essex Pottery c1903 with production ending by c1905.

This is an E W Bingham Castle Hedingham 3 handled pottery loving cup or Tyg.It is 14.5cm tall and 13cm in diameter.It has a mottled pale brown background with an incised pattern highlighted in pale blue.

The motto is "REMEMBER ME WHEN THIS VC"

Impressed and applied marks on the underside.
