Aller Vale Art Pottery
(1881-1924)
 

Set up in 1881 by John Phillips after the Aller Vale Pottery (est 1865) burnt down. The worker were often recruited from the Newton Abbot School of Art. Workers included Charles Collard, later of the Honiton Pottery who worked there from c1886 - 1902.their product was stock by Liberty and Co c1887 - 1901.

In 1897 Phillips died and the business was acquired by Hexter Humpherson & Co and by 1901 there had merged with Watcombe Pottery to become the Royal Aller Vale and Watcombe Pottery company. The factory finally closed in 1924.

There main products were the motto ware for the tourist trade. However there Art ware included a range of grotesque animals and beasts, the design of which are attributed to Blanche G Vulliamy. Such as frogs dragons.
