Walsh Glass – Leaf Biscuit Barrel – stock #33218
A mid 1930s John Walsh Walsh glass biscuit barrel decorated with the cut “Leaf” pattern designed by Clyne Farquharson. Marked on the underside “Walsh England”
William Clyne Farquharson (1906-1978) trained at the Mosely Road Art School in Birmingham before joining John Walsh Walsh glass in 1924 chief draughtsman while continuing his studies at the Central Art School. From c1934 he created original designs which moved away from the traditional complex cut glass patterns and introduced simpler flute cut patterns such as Barry, Leaf, Albany and Kendal. He remained with the company until the closure of the factory in 1951.
