Powell Whitefriars Glass – M54 “Govette” Decanter – stock #28017
A great looking original art deco glass decanter with stopper by Powell Whitefriars Glass. Designed by Barnaby Powell in about 1930. It is from the M54 “Govette” wine service in a golden amber colourway. Illustrated on page 129, Plate128 of “Whitefriars Glass, The Art of James Powell & Sons”
Quoting from Vogue magazine’s November 1933 isse; “The tall slender Govette decanter is a copy of an old Italian flask, and the glass has the uneven finish given by the mould”
